Faith that Works Sermon 4
Nehemiah 8:1-3; 8-18; 9:3
THEME
With the physical labor completed, duties assigned, and orders given in Chapter 7, Only a few days later the Jews ask Ezra the Priest to bring out the Book of the Law. It was the seventh month, the beginning of the Jewish new year and a time of important festivals.
Ezra led the Jews in Religious affairs.

We will see how the reading and hearing of the Law effected the Jews and how they responded.
1) They gathered as one.
2) They repented.
3) They obeyed God (reinstated the feast of Tabernacles)
4) They remembered God’s Provision
5) They worshiped God.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Happy are those who walk in the way of the Lord,
People: Who seek God with their whole hearts.

INVOCATION:
God of blessing, you call us to be one with you and your creation in love, faithfulness, and truth. Help us to carry out the vows we make: to adore you with our whole heart, to live in mutual support of one another, and to love as if your reign has fully come. Through Christ we pray. Amen.
